We strive to accomplish this mission by acting as a liaison to state and local agencies, providing technical assistance to members to provide a quality product, and keeping our membership informed of new technologies and training.

1) Quality Improvement & Training

  • Partnering with MnDOT on certification training
  • Developing a level 2 Asphalt 201 program
  • Incorporating new technical information in training(s)
  • Exploring potential partnerships with other industry professionals

2) Advocacy

Maintain a healthy industry by advocating at the state and local legislative level for highway funding, roadway safety, and other defined interests of the MN asphalt industry by:

  • Advocating at the city and county level through various lunch & learn trainings
  • Working with MnDOT, legislators, and counties to provide needed funding for warm mix additives
  • Promoting a good business environment and practices within the private sector

3) Workforce Development

  • Promote the profession to high school students by developing an outreach program that highlights industry benefits and the various industry roles
  • Strengthen the existing program and relationships with technical programs and colleges
  • Collaborate with various industry professionals on trainings

4) Environmental

Promote industry environmental benefits by:

  • Reactivate the Environment and Sustainability Committee
  • Market advanced technologies within the industry (Warm mix, recyclability, additives, etc.)
  • Engage in discussions and decision making with aligned organizations and policy makers

Provide education and research on environmental product declarations (EPDs) by:

  • Partnering with the legislature and MnDOT to work towards best outcomes during EPD development
  • Increasing knowledge sharing amongst industry professionals surrounding EPDs

5) Technical Assistance & Partnerships

Increase MAPA’s brand recognition by:

  • Developing a communications plan surrounding MAPA’s strategic objectives

Augment specification partnerships by:

  • Hosting technical meetings three to four times annually
  • Continually explore partnership opportunities

Continue providing quality technical assistance by:

  • Addressing issues as requested and providing guidance on dispute resolution
